Nominations underway for Blue Ribbon Awards

The Tahoe Chamber is seeking nominations for the 10th annual Blue Ribbon Awards.

The awards program recognizes South Shore businesses, organizations and individuals for achievements, community contributions and milestones. The public is encouraged to make their nominations at The nomination period ends at noon on Monday, Oct. 16.

There are seven key categories representing the breadth of business on the South Shore. They are:

Geotourism Award: For providing an authentic Tahoe experience. Sponsored by Bike the West

Tourism Award: For innovative program, promotion or product for our visitors. Sponsored by Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority

Experience Award: For business providing compelling and captivating experiences. Sponsored by Marriott Grand Residence Club

Entrepreneur Award: For an innovative individual who assumed the risk of starting a new business. Sponsored by Getaway Reno/Tahoe

Customer Service (Business) Award: For an individual who consistently provides quality service. Sponsored by Heavenly & Kirkwood

Customer Service (Public Agency) Award: For a quality service in the not so usual places (DMV, city, county, TRPA, etc.)

Economic & Community Improvement Award: Sponsored by South Tahoe Refuse

“Being nominated as the entrepreneur of the year is by far one of the biggest honors of a lifetime,” Debbie Brown, owner of Cold Water Brewery and Grill, said in a press release. “It’s one thing to work hard and go at it day in and day out but for the community to recognize your hard work and determination is incredible”.

Nominees will be announced later in October and the winners will be announced on Nov. 9 during the 10th annual Blue Ribbon Awards ceremony at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. The winners will receive a free membership with Tahoe Chamber, signs to display at their businesses, an award and continuous recognition throughout the year for their contributions to the South Shore community.
