North Tahoe Lakers earn first league win

North Tahoe outlasted South Tahoe in a sluggish fourth quarter, beating the Vikings 34-31 in the Mount Rose League girls’ basketball game on Tuesday night in Tahoe City.

The Lakers outscored South Tahoe 6-3 in the final eight minutes to win its first MRL game.

“Overall we played better,” said STHS coach Chris Holmes. “We did a lot of things better than we have been, but we just didn’t come out on the right end.”

Mel Sabac scored nine points to lead the Vikings, while Alex Reber poured in eight. South Tahoe struggled at the foul line, making 4-of-15 attempts.
