Patrick Pearson, 23, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and making terrorist threats when he waved a large kitchen knife at his girlfriend, a South Lake Tahoe police officer said.

Pearson was allegedly upset that his girlfriend wanted to break up with him, waved the knife around and threatened his girlfriend, her two daughters and her mother, the officer said.

The girlfriend gave a piece of paper to her friend, who arrived to help her move out of the residence, telling her to call police.

The incident occurred on the 2000 block of Ruth Avenue about 8 p.m. Monday.
