At her request no services are planned for Joy May Bumgarner, who died Jan. 27, 2002, in a hospital at Stockton, Calif. She was 65.

Mrs. Bumgarner was born in Logan, W. Va., and lived in the Lake Tahoe area for 20 years from the 1960s to the 1980s, when she moved to Hathaway Pines, Calif. She worked in the banking business for 40 years and retired after 20 years as manager of El Dorado Savings at Arnold, Calif. While at Tahoe she worked at Bank of America and Tahoe Savings. She had the first local children’s TV show, “Joy’s Story Time,” in the Lake Tahoe area in the early 1960s.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, E.M. “Bum” Bumgarner of Hathaway Pines; children, Gary Bumgarner of Gardnerville, Nev., Byron Weymouth of Sacramento, Calif., Cheryl Davis of San Jose, Calif., and Jennifer Menefee of Arnold; siblings, Sam Fletcher and Barbara Porter, both of West Virginia, and Anne Harris of Sacramento; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
