Obit — Mary Mees Swartz

Memorial services will take place Jan. 4 for Mary Mees Swartz, who died Dec. 29, 2002, at her home in Carson City, Nev. She was 55.

Mrs. Swartz was born Jan. 21, 1947, at Madison, Wis., to Edward Charles and Margaret Dodge Mees. She graduated from high school in Anchorage, Alaska, and attended Lindenwood College in Missouri, Lake Tahoe Community College and California State University, Sacramento. She married Donald L. Swartz Dec. 11, 1973, at South Lake Tahoe. Before moving to Carson City, she had resided at South Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, Anchorage, Casper, Wyo., and Madison, Wis. Mrs. Swartz was an accountant and later a house wife. She volunteered her spare time with the Carson City Special Olympics, Ballet Society of Nevada and the Capitol Cutups Square and Round Dance Association of Carson City.

Among her survivors are her husband, Donald Lee Swartz of Carson City; father, Edward Charles Mees of Carson City; sister, Janet Mees Martin of Truckee, Calif., nephew, Jed E. Martin of Reno, Nev.; and niece, Megan V. Martin of Truckee. She was predeceased by her mother, Margaret D. Mees in December 1999.



Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Jan. 4 at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.
