Obit — Robert ‘Bud’ Piazzo

Private services were conducted Oct. 21 for Robert “Bud” Piazzo, who died Oct. 16, 2002, at Barton Memorial Hospital with his family at his side. He was 70.

Mr. Piazzo was born July 22, 1932, at Reno, Nev., and graduated from Reno High School in 1950. He was a starting player in both basketball and football and his teams went on to win state championships in both sports. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he played football. Mr. Piazzo was a member of the Army during the Korean War and spent much of his service overseas. He moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1961, where he resided until his death. He started his own business, South Shore Tax Service, and provided tax consulting, bookkeeping and insurance. He was dedicated for 30 years to providing the best possible service to his clients. Mr. Piazzo enjoyed golf and the lifestyle the mountains provided. He provided well for his family and especially enjoyed being around his grandchildren. He was the type of husband and father who could be depended on and was always there when needed. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sherry Piazzo; sons, Brian, Brad and Teri; grandchildren, Shanon, Aaron and Ryan, all of South Lake Tahoe, and Brent of Sacramento, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Matt Gerbatz of Reno, Nev.; and nephews and nieces.
