Memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 23 for Stephanie “Stevie” Ann Plimpton, who died Feb. 19, 2002, at her home in Stateline, Nev., after a swift battle with lung cancer. She was 58.

Mrs. Plimpton was born Sept. 17, 1943, to Maj. Ruel and DeLorias Stephenson at Seattle, Wash. Growing up in a military family, she traveled across America and saw much of the world. Her family eventually settled in South Lake Tahoe and she graduated from South Tahoe High School in 1961. She met the true love of her life, Robert Plimpton, on a blind date and they were married in 1963. She had been a homemaker, banker and insurance agent before beginning a long and successful career as a Real Estate agent on the Nevada and California sides of Lake Tahoe. She was well respected by her peers and had won many top producer awards including being accepted into the prestigious Century 21 Masters Club. She also co-owned several motels in Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe. During her life she served on the Whittell Booster Club board, was a member of the Edgewood Tahoe Ladies Golf Club, Lake Tahoe Nevada Republican Women’s Club, Tigres, a local investment group, and enjoyed participating in a Bible study group.

She participated in many activities and enjoyed sewing, knitting, golf, scrapbooking, shopping, traveling in her motor home, dancing, boating on Lake Tahoe and doll collecting. She had a great passion for the Christmas season and friends and family always looked forward to the special times at Grandma Stevie’s house. She was the glue that kept a large, extended family together and her strength and support as well as her kind heart, positive attitude and devotion to her children and grandchildren will be sorely missed.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Robert Plimpton of Stateline; mother-in-law, Marie Plimpton of South Lake Tahoe; daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Jeff Nelson of Rohnert Park, Calif.; son, Drew Plimpton of Stateline; niece and nephew-in-law, Kristy and Kevin Kjer of Stateline; brother-in-law, Raymond Plimpton of Gardnerville, Nev.; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Mary Alsbury of South Lake Tahoe; nephews, T.J. and James Alsbury; grandchildren, Ashley Nelson, Taylor Nelson, Kyle Kjer, Kelsey Kjer, Kaitlyn Kjer; and granddog, Brandy Plimpton.
