Brent Hamilton Bechtol

June 7, 1956 ~ December 30, 2018

Brent Hamilton Bechtol, 62, passed away from complications of emphysema on December 30, 2018 at his home in Stateline, NV, in the company of his loving family and friends. Born June 7, 1956 to Verna and Walter Bechtol, Brent grew up in Oroville, CA, the youngest of four siblings.

He moved to Lake Tahoe in 1977 where he built a 40-year career at Harvey’s and Harrah’s Lake Tahoe and eventually started his family. Though Tahoe was his home, he was revitalized by trips to the coast where he often traveled with his wife of nearly 30 years and best friend, Carmela.

Brent enjoyed golfing and science fiction, and was often eager to sit down and share his favorite movie or show. He was happiest with his family nearby, and quick to hop in the car for a road trip to see those he missed.

Brent was loyal to his family and friends and happy to help when his people were in need. He had a healthy sense of humor and was always ready with a joke that could not be repeated in polite company. A man of few words, he was known to say to “his girls,” without provocation: “You know, honey, I love you.”

He is survived by his wife Carmela; his daughters Amber, Danielle, Erin, and Faith; his sister Bronwyn; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Bruce and Mike Bechtol.

The family will hold a celebration of his life on June 7, 2019 at a location to be determined, and all are welcome.
