Marcelline Anne Francesconi Johnson

Marcie Johnson, a long-time resident of Incline Village, passed away peacefully at home on December 18, 2018.

Marcelline Anne Francesconi Johnson was born on January 10, 1929 in Fresno, California to Andrew and Niccolina Francesconi. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Don, and is survived by her children; Rick (Judi), Andrea (Al) and Kris (Lanee). She is also survived by six grandchildren, Lynsey, Andy, Joe, Jamie, Brad and Ashleigh and three great grandchildren, Hazel, Ingrid and Maddox, all who considered Marcie the center of their universe. Marcie also leaves behind her dear sister, Irene.

Marcie grew up in an Italian household and learned to speak English in school while fiercely protecting her Italian heritage. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and later attended Fresno State in pursuit of her teaching credentials. She married Don in 1950, and while her education was put on hold raising children, she still managed to get the credentials necessary to substitute teach in Incline Village area schools for many years.

Marcie was part of the pioneering force of Incline families that created St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and she volunteered her time tirelessly to make it the strong and vibrant church it is today. A quiet force in the community, she worked at IVGID into her eighties and made an appreciated impact.

If there was ever the perfect role model as matriarch of a family, Marcie would stand out as the example. A skier in her early years, she once broke her leg and had it set without anesthesia because it was too expensive! Several bouts of cancer through her life were met with faith and resilience and not one complaint. Her family has been so appreciative of her grit, her faith and her unintended funny streak, her warm and genuine laughter was enjoyed by all.

She so loved her family, friends, book clubs, her church and all that life graciously gave her through food and travel. The mark of a life well-lived is defined by how many people have been touched by her kindness and love. Marcie’s impact has been felt far and wide.

The stars are a little dimmer without her earthly presence, but the heavens are now even brighter.

Marcie, Nonni, MOM, we ALL love and miss you.

A funeral mass will be held on May 18th at 10 am with a Celebration of her life immediately following downstairs at Saint Francis of Assisi, 701 Mt. Rose Highway, Incline Village, NV.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life
