Theresa, as she was always called, was born to Mary Margaret and Leroy Hendricksen on October 3, 1932 in Oakland, California. She grew up in San Francisco and attended Star of the Sea Catholic High School.

Theresa moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1955 where she raised her family and began working as a croupier for Harvey’s and Harrah’s resort hotels. She was very good at her job and took great pride in her specialized expertise. Over the years, she told many colorful and humorous stories about this time in her life.

In the early 1980’s, she moved to Silver Spring, Maryland to help care for her granddaughters. What began as a few months of care, ended up lasting five years.

She returned to Nevada, settling in Las Vegas before retiring to Carson City. In her final years, she returned to Maryland to spend time with her cherished great granddaughters.

Theresa loved her family and friends. Her faith was also a strong focus throughout her life.

She had an ability to connect with everyone she met, and always found something interesting or noteworthy to remember. Her dry wit was unmistakably hers, and her humor sustained her throughout her life. Theresa lived life with gusto and thoroughly enjoyed communing with friends and family through gatherings, parties, and family travel. She was always up for a good time.

Her relationship with her sister, Mary D Townsend, was one of her greatest loves. They shared each other lives through almost daily connection for most of Theresa’s 86 years.

Mary Theresa is survived by daughters, Angela and Elizabeth; son-in-law, Michael Sharp; sister Mary D Townsend, grand children Elizabeth Jurinka (Mathew Schumaker), and Ashley Jurinka (Tyler Zencka), and great granddaughters Olivia and Elinor Schumaker. In addition, she leaves behind three nephews, grand nephews and nieces, and a great grandniece.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Rosemary Lorenzetti, brother-in-law James Townsend, and son-in-law Werner Jurinka. Family meant everything to Theresa and she had a special place in her heart for each of her relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 27, 2019 at 11:00a.m. at St Theresa’s Catholic Church , 1041 Lyons Ave, South Lake Tahoe, California 96150. Father Mauricio Hurtado will preside.
