Obituary: Juan Nunez

March 24, 1967 – March 23, 2025

Juan Martin Nunez (Fred), 57, of South Lake Tahoe, NV passed away on March 23, 2025 after a sudden heart attack.
Fred was born on March 24, 1967 to Zoila and Dario Nunez in Tijuana, Mexico. Fred immigrated to South Lake Tahoe when he was young. He graduated from South Tahoe High School in 1986.
Fred worked in South Lake Tahoe for over 40 years. He began his journey working banquets and more at Horizon. Fred started to work at Safeway in 1992. He had over 30 years of experience serving the community with his full of life personality.
In 1984, Fred met Liz (Freddie) at their high school. Fred and Liz went on to have five children, Emily, Maggie, John, Little Lizzie, and Alaina.
Fred enjoyed spending his time collecting autographs, watching and being part of sports events, cheering on Alaina during her marching band events, dressing up in comic book and star wars characters and so much more.
Fred was predeceased by his father, Dario, brother, Javier, and his wife, Liz. He is survived by his children, his grandson, Benjamin, and the rest of the Nunez family.
A rosary service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 6-8 pm at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. On Friday, April 11th, a viewing will be offered from 9-10 am to those who wish to see him. This will be followed by Mass at 11am. We will lay him to rest at Happy Homestead Cemetery at 12:30 pm. His Celebration of Life will be held at Valhalla Tahoe at 2:30-6.30 pm. Please honor our father by wearing Chargers gear, UNR gear, or costumes representing his favorite things.
