Obituary: Robert J. Gibbs

05/27/50 – 12/02/13

Bob was born to Joe and Peggy Gibbs in Miami, Oklahoma. As a teenager the family moved to Whittier, California where Bob went to high school and college. In 1973 Bob moved with a couple of high school buddies to Lake Tahoe where he remained until his passing on December 2.

Bob loved the mountains and the lake. Not an inch went undiscovered over the years exploring with his wife Alice and many friends. He enjoyed a wood cutting business for many years, cutting hundreds of cords of firewood. Man, that guy could fall a tree!

Bob is survived by wife Alice Gibbs, brother, David Gibbs, sister, Jere Horsley, dear friends Albert and Cindy Ochoa, and faithful dog, Mike.

A memorial service and celebration of life is planned for the weekend of January 25, 2014. Anyone wishing to remember Bob, please contact either: Alice Gibbs, tahoealice74@yahoo.com or Cindy and Albert Ochoa Theochoas3@att.net.

Instead of flowers, please donate to the Animal Shelter of your choice.

Hopi Prayer

Do not stand at my grave and weep.

I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am the thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glint in the snow.

I am the sunlight on the ripened grain.

I am the autumn’s gentle rain.

When you awaken in the morning hush,

I am the swift uplifting rush.

Of quiet birds in circled flight,

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there,

I did not die.
