Wallace “David” Benton

Wallace David Benton was born in Los Angeles, CA on November 7, 1920. David was one of 4 siblings who have all preceded him in death. He married the love of his life Clara May Herberger May 7, 1941 and they shared 73 years of marriage. David is survived by his wife Clara May and their two children Keith D. Benton of Minden, NV and Gayle Benton Dower of Merlin, OR. He has 3 grandchildren, Linda Blaich and Kristina Noga both of Grants Pass, OR and Tiffany L. Benton of S. Lake Tahoe, CA. Together they have given him 8 great grandchildren. David proudly served in the Marines during WWII. David moved from Redondo Beach with his family to S. Lake Tahoe, CA in 1957. David had an entrepreneurial spirit, beginning his career as a foreman at North American Aviation. David and Clara May were the owners/operators of the Happy Hours motel and owners of the Snowflake Drive In. David became a general contractor and financier. David was never afraid of hard work and loved new challenges thrown his way. He was always ready to lend a hand and loved to entertain his friends and family. David passed away suddenly on September 7, 2015. David was loved by family and friends and will be terribly missed. Graveside services will be held at the Happy Homestead Cemetery, in South Lake Tahoe, CA on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
