Wanda Jean McChesney passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on February 12, 2017 following a short illness with her husband John and family at her side.

Wanda was born to Elbert Street and Amelia DeWald on November 26, 1928 in Wellington, Colorado. Wanda grew up and attended schools in Fort Collins, Colorado and later moved with her family to Redding, California. In 1948 Wanda relocated to Santa Rosa, California where she worked for Woolworth Stores. On September 2, 1962 Wanda married Dr. John McChesney DVM of Petaluma, California and transferred to the Petaluma Woolworth store.

In 1967 Wanda and John purchased a home at the Tahoe Keys, in South Lake Tahoe, where they spent many weekends and Holidays enjoying the lake. In 1970 Wanda and John decided to retire and permanently relocate to South Lake Tahoe. During their retirement, Wanda enjoyed fishing, water skiing and sailing on the lake.

Wanda is predeceased by her parents and son, Larry Strobbe.

Wanda is survived by her husband Dr. John McChesney, step-sons John, Bill and Bob McChesney, step-daughter Judy Carter, sisters Karen Carter and Stella Bush.

In keeping with Wanda’s wishes a small informal memorial service will be planned for a later date for family and friends.
