Janet H. Empey

A memorial service will take place May 29 for Janet H. Empey, who died May 25, 2004, at her home in Zephyr Cove, Nev. She was 76.

Janet was born April 21, 1928, at Portland, Ore., to Gabriel Halladay and Alice (Lofgren) Halladay. She received a bachelor of science degree from Oregon State University in 1950 ( Phi Kappa Phi.) She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, Talons, Mortar Board and Theta Sigma Phi honoraries. Janet volunteered her time at Barton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, serving two terms as president, Lake Tahoe Nevada Republican Women, Barton Memorial Hospital Foundation, Douglas County Library board of directors and Whittell High School Boosters.



She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gene F. Empey of Zephyr Cove; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Juliann of Zephyr Cove, Michael and Megan of Sparks, Nev.; grandsons, Jordan and Ryan of Zephyr Cove; granddaughter, Elizabeth of Sparks; nieces, Michelle Lee-Bruncke of Washington and Laura Lee Dellinger of Oregon; and grandnieces, Allyce Bruncke, Claire Bruncke and Grace Bruncke, all of Washington.

A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. May 29 at the pier at Lakeridge near Cave Rock, Nev.
