OBITUARY: Charles "Chuck" Kimes

On Sunday, February 27, 2011, in the United Arab Emirates, Captain Chuck Kimes left this world for a larger playing field. A 20-year+ resident of Zephyr Heights, Nev. and a 26-year career pilot for American Airlines, Chuck also ran a successful seaplane operation with business partner and dear friend, Ray Wolfe. In his ‘spare’ time, he traveled the world on ski, dive, sail and flying trips, along with piloting his four-person Stinson seaplane.

A second generation pilot – his father flew for Pan American – Chuck touched many lives as a friend to many, and a mentor for the extremely lucky. He has inspired, motivated and influenced so many people with his passion for a life that was filled with new stories, memories and thousands of photos. With an overwhelming zest for life and all its adventures, Chuck Kimes was always ready to adopt someone else into the friends ‘n family circle. The only area besides flying where he was more passionate was for the love of his life, Andrea Edge.

In addition to Andrea, Chuck leaves behind his beloved aunt, Esther Dobson, of Albany, Georgia, cousins George Dobson and Anne Patterson, plus his adopted family in Angels Camp, Mike Hayes, Terry Campbell and her late son, Tyler Orsow. There will be a public memorial on March 13, 2011 at 1:00 at the Angels Camp Gun Club, 2403 Gun Club Road in Angels Camp. A memorial website is found at http://www.chuckandtyler.com; there will be a local memorial at a later date.
