OBITUARY: Col. Roger W. Peard

Col. Roger W. Peard passed away on March 15, 2011. Roger and Dee were 34 years residents of Christmas Valley. They moved to Santa Maria 2 1/2 years ago for Roger’s health. Roger was very active in MOAA and Civil air Patrol. After serving 30 years in the military, he was employed in gaming by Caesar’s Tahoe.

Roger graduated from San Diego High School in 1944, USNA in 1949, then entered the Marine Corps as a 1st Lt. in 1950. He had tours of duty in Korea and Vietnam. He was a Fighter pilot then transitioned to Helicopters.



Roger is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dee Rene, daughters Lynn (Bill)Kronberger, Shirley (Tom) Alstadt, Barbara Peard, Audrey Peard and son Roger Wood Peard III (Woody), his 6 grandchildren, Michael Gaugen, Patrick Curran, Julie Kruk, Leslie Humiston, Joel Peard and Corvette Burton-Peard, plus seven great grandchildren.



Roger’s ashes will be inurned at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA on the

29th of March at 10am.
