Obituary – Deana Lee Gillette Perret

Funeral services took place June 30 in Louisiana for Deana Lee Gillette Perret, who died June 28 at her home in Arabi, La. Interment was at Lovilia, Iowa. She was 46.

Mrs. Perret was born in Newton, Iowa, and had lived in the New Orleans area for the past 17 years. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, Iowa, and Nunez Community College in Chabnette with presidential honors in 1999. She was a member of the National Honor Society and Gamma Delta Phi. She served in the Navy for 23 years and received two Navy commendations, six good conduct awards, two National Defense Service Medals, Armed forces Reserve Medals and the Expert Pistol Shot Ribbon. She was treasurer of the Chief Petty Officer’s Association and had been an employee of Pulaski, Geiger and Laborde in New Orleans. She was a frequent visitor to South Lake Tahoe during the past 20 years.

Survivors include her husband, Michael David Perret; daughter, Danielle Michele Payne of Gretna; mother and stepfather, Zelma L. and Ron Weiss of Zephyr Cove; father and stepmother, Erwin and Dixie Gillette of Newton, Iowa; brother, Allen Gillette of Leadville, Colo.; and sisters, Tresa Gillette of Westminster, Calif., and Shawna Ringler of Des Moines.
