OBITUARY: DONALD FRANCIS TOMASCO

1922 – 2012

Donald Francis Tomasco of South Lake Tahoe peacefully passed away on June 27th, 2012. He was born in San Francisco, California on November 3rd, 1922 to Ralph and Teressa Tomasco. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Tomasco, sons Tom, John and his wife April, daughters Kacy and husband John Cokely, Gina and husband Marnell Heinz, stepsons Steve Barnett and wife Michelle, Brian and wife Laurie, niece, Nancy Tomasco and nephew, Mike Tomasco, and many, many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donald was preceded in death by his stepsons Kevin and Rusty, parents and siblings. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Donald served honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was awarded the Victory and Good Conduct Medals. He also humbly received the Navy and Marine Corps Medal from Admiral Nimitz for his bravery in rescuing a B-29 gunner on the Tinian Island in the Pacific theater. He graduated from USC as a pharmacist and, later in life, opened the first pharmacy in South Lake Tahoe. He was an ardent USC football fan and even had an autograph picture of Tommy Trojan signed by the horse, Traveler.

Friends and family are invited to join in the celebration of Donald’s life on Tuesday, July 3rd, from 1:00 to 5:00pm at his home address in South Lake Tahoe.
