Obituary: Donna Goulet McRadu

August 19, 1923 – Febrary 5, 2014

Donna was born on August 19, 1923 in Prosser, Washington to Richard and Eliza Goulet and passed away on February 5, 2014 in Placerville, Ca.

Donna was the loving Mother to Richard, Dana (Jennifer) and Cynthia (Tom) Poindexter-McLarnan, Grandmother to Michelle, Monet, Malia, Evan, Jordan, and Justin; Great-Grandmother to Dionicio and Madison, and loving Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eliza and Richard, husband Daniel, brothers Oliver, Edward, Albert, Wilfred and Robert; sisters Alice, Rosey and Edna, and son-in-law Richard Poindexter.

Donna was raised on the family farm in a strict Catholic French family but knew how to enjoy life. She loved the parties her parents would host and while her father played the violin (that he made), her mother would be at the piano playing and singing. Life was very cheerful as neighbors laughed and danced around the living room.

She graduated from St. Josephs Academy on June 3, 1941 in Yakima, Wa. and she and her best friend Brownie moved to Hollywood shortly thereafter.

Donna was the Jitterbug queen and people would stop and circle her and her partner as they danced. She worked at Goody’s Diner where she often waited on the infamous “Black Dahlia”.

Donna also studied piano with Hal Rhodes the inventor of the Fender Rhodes Electric piano. She was an accomplished abstract artist, being a life member of the Tahoe Art League since 1974. She also studied ballet, loved to dance, poetry, and wrote beautiful stories.

She met her future husband Daniel in 1951 and they were married on Jan. 12, 1952. They lived in So. California and retired to Lake Tahoe in 1974.

She will always be remembered for the kind, loving, forgiving, cheerful, compassionate lady she was and her fabulous artwork.

She devoted most of her life to the Blessed Mother Mary and Saints and also Mother Theresa. She supported her work and received many personal letters from Mother Theresa.

There will be a viewing and Rosary at McFarlane’s Mortuary on Feb. 13, 2014 at 5:00 pm and a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Theresa Catholic Church on Feb. 14, 2014 at 10:00 am with burial at Happy Homestead. A reception will follow at St. Theresa Parish Hall and all are welcome to attend.

Donna will be sorrowfully missed by her family and friends.
