At his request no services will take place for Edwin C. “Chuck” Edwards, who died of melanoma cancer June 30, 2004, at Barton Memorial Hospital He was 81.

Chuck was born July 3, 1922, at Alta, Iowa, to Jess and Mabel Edwards. He was married to Donna Vosseler Aug. 12, 1945, by her father, the Rev. Erwin Vosseler, at First Lutheran Church in San Diego, Calif. Chuck served in World War II as a Navy pilot attached to a squadron on a Navy aircraft carrier. He was actively involved in his sons’ sports activities, serving as a coach and president of Colt League. He was also active in First Lutheran Church. He had operated the Tahoe Driftwood Lodge with his wife and son, Richard, for 28 years. Chuck was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved God, his family, his friends, motel guests and those who worked with him.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna; sons, Charles, and Richard and his wife Susan; daughter, Cynthia Butterfield; granddaughters, Angela Campbell, and Melissa and her husband James Heinrick; sister-in-law and her husband, Janet and Hugh Stockert; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Donovan and Everett; and sister, Beatrice Ray.
