OBITUARY: Gertrude Jane Nicola

No services are planned for Gertrude Jane Nicola, who died April 20, 2001, at Barton Memorial Hospital. She was 76.

Mrs. Nicola was born March 27, 1925, at Groveland, Calif., and lived many years in the San Francisco Bay Area. She moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1963, where she was a waitress for several years and worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk for 19 years before retiring in 1987. Mrs. Nicola will be remembered for her warmth, humor and hospitality. She was always willing to welcome one more person to her table.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Sandra Brocker of Seattle, Wash., Richard and Bonnie Nicola of South Lake Tahoe, and Thomas and Barbara Nicola of Fresno, Calif.; daughter, Gerri Brocker of Seattle; grandchildren, Toni Kern, Kelli Patterson, Eric Brocker, Brad Brocker and Mary Beth, Amber, Angela, Robert and Elizabeth Nicola; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Angelo Nicola, in 1998 as well as by an infant daughter, Christine.

At Mrs. Nicola’s request there will be no services and her ashes will be inurned next to her husband at Happy Homestead Cemetery.
