Obituary — Jacob S. ‘Jake’ Parker
May 9, 2003
Private family inurnment will take place this weekend for Jacob S. “Jake” Parker Jr., who died unexpectedly June 9, 2003, at Lake George, N.Y. He was 45.
Mr. Parker was born July 29, 1957, at Somerset, Pa., to Jacob S. and Dorothy (Pickett) Parker. A graduate of Somerset High School and Penn State University, he married Sue Scott Parker in 1987 at Bolton Landing, N.Y. He was a resident of Lake Tahoe from 1980 to 1989, where he was employed in mountain operations at Heavenly Ski Resort. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers of Schenectady, N.Y.
Mr. Parker loved his family and friends. He also loved to ski, play softball and golf, go camping — and of course, drink Budweiser. Loved ones hope it eases everyone’s hearts to know he passed away while doing one of the things he enjoyed most — relaxing while spending time with his family on a beautiful day in the middle of Lake George. One of his friends said, “We hope he saves a place on the other side for all of us, as he forever skis the double-black diamond trails in heaven. And just like Jake, he had to go first to show us the way.”
He is survived by his wife, Sue Scott Parker and their two children, Elizabeth Grace and Jacob Stephenson Parker III of Bolton Landing; parents, Jacob and Dorothy Parker of Martinsburg, W. Va.; sisters, Roberta and Mary Lou Parker; and many aunts, uncles and other relatives from Pennsylvania, West Virginia and surrounding areas.
Mr. Parker’s wife is currently in town to place his ashes in the special place of his choice. She can be reached at (518) 791-4192.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Parker Children Fund, c/o Evergreen Bank, Bolton Landing, NY 12814.
