Obituary: Joaquin "Jack" Silva

Memorial services will take place in the spring in California for Joaquin “Jack” Silva, who died Feb. 6, 2000, at Carson Health Care in Carson City, Nev. He was 92.

Mr. Silva was born June 16, 1907, at Joaquin Valley, Calif., to Joaquin E. and Marie Silva and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was supervisor of nurseries for the park department in Oakland, Calif., for more than 30 years and lead man in maintenance at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe for more than 10 years. He had been a resident of Minden, Nev., for the past three years. He loved bingo, reading and watching television. He also enjoyed fishing at Hope Valley, Calif.

Survivors include his son, Ras Silva of Minden; and sisters, Agnes Taylor and Clara Twoto of South San Francisco, Calif. Arrangements are by FitzHenry’s Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville.
