OBITUARY: Josephine (Josie) Barbara Evans

Josephine (Josie) Barbara Evans our beloved Mother and Grandmother, was called to be with the Lord on January 19, 2010. Josie was born August 27, 1922 in Watsonville, CA to Thomas and Emilia Pereira. She lived in Hayward and Nevada City, CA before relocating to S. Lake Tahoe where she lived for 40 years. Josie was employed by the Sierra Counsel on Alcoholism, providing

both counseling and DUI classes, including working with the Courts. She retired after many years of dedicated service.

Josie was a member in the Women of the Moose Chapter 408 and attended South Shore Christian Assembly of God Church. She loved gardening, fishing, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.

Josephine was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur Evans, son George Mankins and daughter Linda Jacobsen. She is survived by sons Thomas Mankins, Steven Mankins and wife Sandy, and daughters Barbara Giglio and Diane Coyne and husband Mark, plus a significant extended family of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Christian Assembly of God church at a future yet undetermined date. Donations may be made in memory of Josie to the S. Lake Tahoe Humane Society.

Josie’s memory will live on through the family and friends who loved her and these memories shall always be a comfort to their souls.
