Obituary: Loretta Agnes Dougherty

A Celebration of Life will take place Thursday, March 9 for Loretta Agnes Dougherty, who died March 5, 2000, at her home in South Lake Tahoe. She was 91.

Miss Dougherty was born Dec. 29, 1908, in Wisconsin, the youngest of seven brothers and sisters who all predeceased her. She was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church until her sister, Helen, died in 1994. After her sister died she was unable to physically participate in church affairs. She kept track of her many friends at the church through home visits from the Rev. John Grace and other members of the church. At 91 years of age she never complained and always had a smile and cheerful word for all she met.

She is survived by niece, Mary Yancy of Fremont, Calif.; grandnephews, Slade Yancy of Vacaville, Calif., and Bret Yancy and Keith Yancy of the San Francisco Bay Area; and grandniece, Teresa Clemenes of San Francisco.

A rosary will be recited Wednesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at McFarlane Mortuary and a Celebration of Life will take place Thursday, March 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church.
