Obituary: Mariette Philomena Hinds

Memorial services will be Friday, Aug. 18 for Mariette Philomena Hinds, who died Aug. 5, 2000, at her home in Pismo Beach, Calif. She was 72.

Mrs. Hinds was born July 25, 1928, in Belgium. She was a resident of South Lake Tahoe for 35 years prior to moving to Pismo Beach in September 1999. A self-employed successful businesswoman, she was a beautician and owned and operated The Hair Hut and Fifi’s beauty salons as well as Treasures and Trash and Romar Enterprises. Mrs. Hinds had an outgoing personality and was well-loved. She will be greatly missed by her family, many friends and little dog, Heidi.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Andree and Mark Bonfield of South Lake Tahoe; son-in-law, Jim Ahern of Elk Grove, Calif.; sister-in-law, Diane Tillery of Big Bear Lake, Calif; and grandchildren, Jacob, Luke and Daniel Bonfield of South Lake Tahoe and Ryan and Adam Ahern of Elk Grove. She was predeceased by her husband, Haldon Roger Hinds; daughter, Barbara Ahern; and parents, Georges and Paula De Bruycker.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18 at Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship, 3580 Blackwood Road. Inurnment will follow at Happy Homestead Cemetery.

Donations in Mrs. Hinds’ memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905.

Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall-Spoo Funeral Home in Grover Beach, Calif.
