Obituary: Marvin L. Stanley

A memorial service for Marvin L. Stanley, 53, a Dayton resident for the past 15 years, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Walton’s Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Stanley died Jan. 5, 2001, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born July 29, 1947, in Jacksonville, Ark., to Marvin and Doris Duncan Stanley.

Before moving to Dayton, he lived at South Lake Tahoe.



Mr. Stanley was a communication technician for Nevada Bell for 36 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his granddaughter. He was a past member of the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department for three years. He was a Baptist.

He served in the U.S. Army.



Among his survivors are his wife of 34 years, Carol of Dayton; parents of Pleasant Plains, Ark.; daughters Shannon Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Carrie Stanley of Batavia, Ohio; sisters Phyllis Hensley of Batesville, Ark., and Reginia Mathenney of Pleasant Plains, Ark., and granddaughter Alexis Johnson.

Cremation will be at Walton’s Sierra Crematory.

Walton’s Chapel of the Valley, Crematory and Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.
