OBITUARY: Paul Raymond Kirkpatrick Jr.
Paul was born January 19, 1933 in Laramie Wyoming to Paul and Agnes (Stevens) Kirkpatrick. He received his wings and entered the pearly gates March 20th, 2010. Paul spent his younger years growing up in several of the western states (his father was in construction). When he was in early grade school, the family settled down in Northern California, he attended Meridian Elementary School, Meridian, Ca and Sutter Union High School, Sutter, Ca.
Paul and his parents and sister, Jacqueline, moved to the Bay area in 1950. Paul joined the U.S. Air Force, serving four years. After the military, he moved to Lake Tahoe, working at many casinos and always making friends wherever he went. Paul met Harvey Gross (owner of Harvey’s Wagon Wheel) and worked for Harvey for eighteen years, serving as his Tahoe boat Captain and Lake shore properties caretaker. Paul and Linda met at the Wagon Wheel and married there. Paul was a true salesman. He not only could sell himself, but anything there was for sale. His last ten years of employment were at Michael’s Cyclery in both Carson City and Reno.
Paul loved the outdoors, cooking, animals, fishing and hunting. However, his true love was his family, ALL of his family. He was always happiest hosting the 4th of July BBQ for family one and all. The bigger the gathering the happier he was. He was said to be the glue that kept our family to together.
Paul passed away at home in the arms of his loving wife with his family at his side.
He is survived and so dearly missed by his wife of 40 years, Linda Lee, son Jonathan, both of Fernley, daughter Kathy Bannick, U.S. Marine retired of Colorado Springs, Co, daughter, Pamela (Jim) Vinella of Grass Valley, Ca., grandson, Joshua (Breanne) Cohn and great grandson Jayden of Spanish Springs, NV, sisters Ruth Kirkpatrick of Priest River, ID and Jacqueline (Bob) Galau of Reno, NV, 4 nephews, 2 nieces, 2 great nephews and 1 great niece, 2 great, great nephews and his beloved pets, Sparky, Brandy, Shadow and Rambo.
