Obituary: Richard A. Dewhurst

Services are planned in May at Lake Tahoe for Richard A. Dewhurst, who died Feb. 23, 2001, at Santa Rosa, Calif., from complications arising from acute leukemia. He was 65.

Mr. Dewhurst was born July 12, 1935, at Oakland, Calif., and had been a 32-year resident of South Lake Lake. His association with the area started much earlier when, as a boy, he would spend summers at Zephyr Cove with his family in the 1940s and 1950s. He was the supervisor of the Tahoe Valley Post Office and the Al Tahoe Post Office and later the owner of Round Hill Travel at Zephyr Cove. Before moving to the area he worked for the Post Office in Los Angeles and Lockheed Airport at Burbank, Calif.

Survivors include his sons, Stephen and Jeffrey; his former wife, Dodie; his very dear friend, Lana; and his loving family and friends.

Donations in Mr. Dewhurst’s memory may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or the Lake Tahoe Humane Society, P.O. Box PET, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96158.
