Obituary – Robert Lee Williams

Funeral services will take place Sept. 25 at Chatsworth, Calif., and memorial services Sept. 27 at South Lake Tahoe for Robert Lee Williams, who died of pulmmonary edema Sept. 20, 2003, at Barton Memorial Hospital. He was 81.

Mr. Williams was born Dec. 10, 1921, at Pittsburg, Kans., to Iman and Arvilla Benton Williams. He moved to Los Angeles, Calif., in 1925 with his family, where he helped his father and brother build the family home. He graduated from Van Nuys High School, Van Nuys, Calif., in 1940, and served in the Army Air Corp Medical Corp during World War ll. He was stationed at Grimsby, England, and later was with the Army of Occupation in Germany. Following his discharge he attended Colorado A&M at Fort Collins on the GI Bill. He married the love of his life, Jeanne Williams, Dec. 21, 1941.

Mr. Williams worked at Lockheed Aircraft and General Motors and sold foreign sports cars at Wrisley Motors. He was a corporate salesman in the construction trades with Modern Laminated from 1958 until his retirement in 1983. He moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1989 to be nearer his sons and grandchildren. He enjoyed golfing and camping and helping his wife and sons in their business endeavors and he could fix anything. Mr. Williams enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as well as traveling. His trips took him to Alaska, Europe and Asia and in the last two months of his life he spent three weeks in Europe with his youngest grandson. He was a kind and loving man and was devoted to his family.



He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Bob Lloyd of Duluth, Minn., son, Bruce Williams of South Lake Tahoe; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Jackie Williams of South Lake Tahoe; granddaughter, Alexis Williams of Santa Barbara, Calif.; grandsons, Brendan Lloyd of Northridge, Calif., and Ronnie Williams II and Chris Williams, both of South Lake Tahoe; and sister, Claudia Barrett of Palm Desert, Calif. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Frances Eugenia “Jeanne” Williams, on Dec. 5, 2002.

Funeral services and interment will take place at 1 p.m. Sept. 25 at Oakwood Memorial Park, 22601 Lassen Street, Chatsworth, CA 91311. Memorial services will begin at 1 p.m. Sept. 27 at Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship, 3580 Blackwood Road, South Lake Tahoe.
