Obituary: Shirley Stroud

Memorial services were April 9 for Shirley Stroud, who died March 29, 2000, at her parents’ home in Stockton, Calif., following a battle with breast cancer. She was 52.

Mrs. Stroud was born June 12, 1947, at Fresno, Calif., and had been a resident of South Lake Tahoe since 1983. She loved working as a slot department supervisor at Lakeside Inn & Casino, where she was embraced by all who knew her. She was grateful to Mike Bradford and all her fellow employees and friends for their support, kindness and love. She will be remembered for her zest for living, her courage, her smile and her love of people. Her spirit will live on.

She is survived by many family members who loved her dearly including her son, Gary of South Lake Tahoe; daughter, Shelly Stroud of Gully; grandson, Dustin Sowaniek of Manteca, Calif., and parents, Bud and Rosy Oxley of Stockton. She was predeceased by her father, Wesley V. Clifton.



Memorial services were April 9 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Modesto, Calif. Private inurnment is planned.

Donations is Mrs. Stroud’s memory may be made to the American Breast Cancer Society.
