Obituary: Theima Ethel Tidd

Thelma Ethel Tidd, 86, a Palm Desert, Calif., resident, died Jan. 2, 2001, at Fountains at the Carlotta in Palm Desert. Mrs. Tidd was born Aug. 25, 1914, in San Diego, Calif., to Ivan and Ethel Myers Hanson.

She graduated from high school in Alhambra, Calif.

She married Louis Tidd in 1933 and they were married 54 years before he died.

Mrs. Tidd was owner of Floral Art & Yarn in Imperial County, Calif., and Unique Boutique in Mariposa, Calif. She was past president of the Soroptomist Club in El Centro, Calif., the Women’s Club in Holtville, Calif., the Garden Club in Blue River, Ore., and the TOPS Group in Indio, Calif. She was secretary of the senior center and the TOPS Group in Mariposa, Calif. She served on county fair boards, was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce in Holtville, El Centro and Mariposa, a member of the California Native Daughters in Mariposa and a member of the Methodist Church in Holtville and Mariposa.

Among her survivors are her children Raymond of Palm Desert and Darlene Hunt of Minden; grandson John Hunt of Lake Tahoe and great-grandson Alex Hunt.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sweet Home, Ore.

Palm Springs Mortuary in Cathedral City, Calif. is in charge of arrangements.
