Obituary: Thomas Ziegenfuss

A Celebration of Life is planned this summer at South Lake Tahoe for Thomas Howard Ziegenfuss, who died Feb. 26, 2000, at his winter home in Lake Havasu City, Ariz. He was 79.

Mr. Ziegenfuss was born July 15, 1920, to Thomas Howard Ziegenfuss III and Meta (Stojohnn) Ziegenfuss at Pleasanton, Calif. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Ziegenfuss was a “snowbird” and had spent the summers at South Lake Tahoe and the winters at Lake Havasu City since 1974. He was a retired carpenter and had been a member of the Carpenters Union for 60 years. Through the years he built several of the homes around South Lake Tahoe and had received a special 50-year recognition from the Carpenters Union at South Lake Tahoe. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching all the games. Mr. Ziegefuss, who was known as the “Gentle Giant,” will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Ziegenfuss of South Lake Tahoe and Lake Havasu City; sons, James Ziegenfuss of Lewiston, Idaho, and Gary Ziegenfuss of Sacramento, Calif.; daughters, Cindy Aguilera and Marlene Larson, both of Hayward, Calif.; sister, Edie Allen of Stockton, Calif.; and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.



The family requests contributions in his memory be made to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, Ariz. 96405-0597.
