Obituary – Varves

Services will take place April 28 for Frosso “Frosty” Varves, who died April 24, 2004, at Barton Memorial Hospital, after suffering a broken hip on April 4. She was 93.

Frosso was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Greece and came to the United States at the age of 16 with her first husband. She moved to Lake Tahoe in 1959 after raising her sons in the Central California area. She worked for Harrah’s and Del Webs High Sierra at Stateline until she was up into her 80s. She loved traveling, cooking, gambling and watching westerns on TV in her spare time.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Angie Stares; grandchildren, Gary and Denise Stares; and great-grandchildren, Whitney and John. She was preceded in death by her son, William Simmons.



Services will begin at 11 a.m. April 28 at McFarlane Mortuary. Interment will follow at Happy Homestead Cemetery.
