Obituary- Wendy Margaret French
A Celebration of Life memorial service will take place Friday, July 13 for Wendy Margaret French, who died peacefully July 5, 2001 at her South Lake Tahoe home, surrounded by her family. Her passing followed a courageous five-year battle with colon cancer. She was 49.
Mrs. French was born April 15, 1952, at Oakland, Calif. She graduated from Skyline High School at Oakland in 1970 and received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from California State University, Chico, in 1974. While at Chico she met her future husband, Donald E. French, and they were married Aug. 11, 1973. The Frenches made their home in Contra Costa County, where Mrs. French was a nurse at Kaiser, Walnut Creek for almost 10 years. They moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1981, where she worked for Barton Memorial Hospital. For the past 10 years she was a supervisor at Barton’s Home Health Department.
Her legacy lives on in her daughter, Kristi Lynn French 21, a student at Sacramento State University. Her husband lovingly cared for her throughout her illness and he will deeply miss his soulmate of 28 years. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the Home Health Hospice Team for their tender and gentle treatment of their beloved Wendy.
Survivors include her husband, Donald E. French of South Lake Tahoe; daughter, Kristi Lynn French of South Lake Tahoe; sister and brother-in-law, Linda Jean and Patrick Campbell of Walnut Creek, Calif.; brother, W. Tom Thompson of Walnut Creek; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Walter E. Thompson, and her mother, Jean C. Thompson.
A Celebration of Life memorial service is planned at 1 p.m. Friday, July 13 at Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship, 3580 Blackwood Road, with a reception following immediately at the church. Private inurnment will be at Mt. View Cemetery, Oakland, Calif.
