Obituary: Wilford T. "Bill" Means

Private family services are pending for Wilford T. “Bill” Means, who died Jan. 14, 2000, at Poudre Valley Hospital, Fort Collins, Colo. He was 85.

Mr. Means was born June 18, 1914, at Slater, Mo., to Henry H. Means and Edith (Short) Means. He married Gladys Sadler Dec. 30, 1939 in Reno, Nev. He was a World War II bomber pilot for the 556th AAF Base Unit and was in active service from October 1943 to November 1945. Mr. Means received an Air Medal, WWII Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and American Theater Service Medal. A former resident of Texas, Lake Tahoe and Yuba City, Calif., he had recently moved to Fort Collins. He had worked as a salesman for Nabisco and was a business owner.

Survivors include son, Michael Means of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; daughters, Patti Means McVicar of Redding, Calif., and Susan Ballinger of Fort Collins, Colo.; brother, Henry Means of Sacramento; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his wife.



Arrangements are by Reager Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Collins.
