Obituary- William ‘Bill’ Donley

To the editor:

Memorial services took place May 9 at Clinton, Okla., for William “Bill” Donley who died May 6, 2001, of melanoma cancer. He was 65.

Mr. Donley was born Dec. 29, 1935, at Clinton and was raised on the family farm. He graduated as valedictorian of his class in 1943 at Arapaho High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in commercial art from the University of California in 1959. He was a member of Lambda Chi fraternity.

Mr. Donley had been a perennial winter visitor to Lake Tahoe for the past 25 years. He skied many of the local resorts, but spent most of his ski days at Kirkwood, where he enjoyed the small hometown atmosphere and friendly staff. A connoisseur of fine wine and gourmet food, he was a nightly visitor to Tahoe’s many restaurants. His two favorites were Cafe Fiore and Evan’s. His many friends in Tahoe will remember him as a free spirit that never acted his age.
