Obituary- William Norman ‘Norm’ Billing

At his request no formal memorial services are planned for William Norman “Norm” Billing, who died Aug. 15, 2001, at Barton Memorial Skilled Nursing Facility. He was 81.

Mr. Billing was born July 15, 1920, at Martinez, Calif., and had been a 47-year-resident of South Lake Tahoe. He and his wife, Adrienne, were developers of Christmas Valley, original owners and developers of Lake Tahoe Golf Course and adjoining subdivisions as well as Mountain View Estates. In the early years they had real estate corporations and, in later year, spent 25 years working with Ed McCarthy.

It is an understatement to simply say that he was loved. Mr. Billing was deeply loved and he earned it all with his passion for life and his love of Lake Tahoe. Many people provided, time, love and attention as he was failing. They included the staff at Barton Memorial Skilled Nursing Facility; Debbie Jeffery, who provided daily love and care; Ken Pritchett, Wayne Terry and Jennifer Homer, who operated the Tahoe Colony Inn; and Jan, King and Ed McCarthy, who over the years maintained a long lasting love for him, a man who was truly one of the good guys.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Rogers of San Diego, Calif., and was predeceased by his wife, Adrienne, in 1998.
