Oktoberfest festivities tonight at MontBleu

Jeff Munson

Raise a stein for a good cause, victims of the Angora fire, tonight at Oktoberfest. The Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra will hold its fifth annual Oktoberfest celebration at MontBleu Resort and Casino beginning at 6 p.m.

“This is always a great local event that benefits the kids in our community,” said event organizer Marie Foster of the Kiwanis Club. “And this year, proceeds will go to help the kids of the Angora fire.”

Event organizers have identified about 60 children who were affected by the June fire, and are asking if anyone knows of any youngsters 0-18 who may not be enrolled with the Kiwanis Club or St. Theresa, who may need assistance.

The event includes wine tasting, beer (both German and domestic), German food, German maidens, silent auction, raffle, and dancing to local band Cool Black Kettle. Tickets are $40 each, $45 at the door or $350 for a reserved table for eight.

Oktoberfest at Tahoe traditionally signals the end of the summer season and the approach of fall.

Some of the organizations that the Kiwanis Club supports are the Boys & Girls Club, Elementary Arts Program, Kiwanis Family House, Christmas Cheer, Tahoe Youth & Family Services, Sierra Recovery and Back to School with KRLT/KOWL.

The Oktoberfest is co-sponsored by KRLT/KOWL, The Entertainer, the Mountain News, Rip N Willies Ski Shop, the Tahoe Daily Tribune, South Shore Motors, Taylor Creek Auctions and Nixon’s Heating and Plumbing.
