Olympic ski champion Defago injured in training fall

The Associated Press

GENEVA – Olympic downhill skiing champion Didier Defago has been taken to the hospital after injuring his left knee in training.

The Swiss ski federation says Defago is undergoing an MRI exam at Sion and it expects to have results later Wednesday.

The 32-year-old Defago fell during a Super-G practice run on the glacier at Zermatt, Switzerland.

Defago won his first major career medal at the Vancouver Games in February, skiing the Whistler course 0.07 seconds faster than Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway. Bode Miller of the United States was 0.02 seconds further back in third.
