One taken to hospital after bus hits truck

The driver of a Lake Tahoe Unified School District school bus is believed to be at fault in a Thursday crash that sent one man to the hospital with complaints of pain.

The bus was not carrying any children at the time of the crash, which happened about 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of Winnemucca Avenue and Lake Tahoe Boulevard, said South Lake Tahoe police Lt. David Stevenson.

The school bus was driving eastbound on Lake Tahoe Boulevard behind a Dodge truck prior to the collision, which happened when the truck attempted to turn onto Winnemucca and was struck from behind by the bus, Stevenson said.

The driver of the truck, a 66-year-old Meyers man, was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital following the incident.

Alcohol is not considered a factor in the collision. It is not known why the driver failed to stop, Stevenson said.
