“Lake Tahoe’s Most Scenic Paddle” comes to Sand Harbor State Park this weekend.

The Thunderbird Paddling Festival takes place throughout the day Saturday and includes a variety of events, from a four-mile paddle to an eight-mile paddle to open-water swims of up to 2.4 miles. The final competition of the day is the Big Blue Waterman Challenge, which takes place at 12 p.m.

“The Big Blue Waterman Challenge combines stand-up paddle board (SUP), swimming and beach running,” according to organizers. “The format is a heat racing elimination where top finishers advance round by round to the finals. Consolation races and kids divisions. We provide the one-design boards to even out the field. Are you good at one, two or all three stages of this exciting and fun multisport challenge? Then come on out and give it a tri.”

An expo and demos will also be part of the paddling festival.

Registration to compete in different events varies, with kids races starting at $15 and adult races starting at $41.

Sand Harbor is three miles south of Incline Village on State Route 28
