Scars: Ouch! That’ll leave a mark

Star: Emergency personnel held the Annual Wildfire Expo in South Lake Tahoe last Saturday to provide education and awareness.

Star: Tahoe Regional Planning Agency tapped three people and one family for the 2015 Lake Spirit Awards. Exemplary citizens included Rebecca Bryson from the South Shore and the Murphy family (Shawn, Angie, Tyler and Savannah) from the North Shore. Exemplary agency or scientist recipients included Joy Barney, the U.S. Forest Service’s conservation education program manager and Madonna Dunbar from the North Shore.

Scar: Cory Pearson was arrested last Saturday following a low-speed chase from Meyers to the Tahoe Keys Marina, prompting a lockdown of the area.

Star: Lake Tahoe Community College students received sholarships and awards at a ceremony on Thursday afternoon.

Star: Runners showcased their endurance, and other their creativity with their attire, during the Rock Tahoe Half Marathon last Saturday.

Scar: The California Highway Patrol announced the death of former Arizona judge and avid cyclist Donald Irwin Monday after he was struck by a car June 9.

Scar: A defendant in the Arizona case involving Tahoe’s Matthew McMaster escaped prison time after pleading no contest to helping dispose of his body by burning it along with other items in July 2012.

Star: Lake Tahoe Community College’s Board of Trustees approved the first series of Measure F bonds for $19.5 million. The bonds also received an A1 rating from Moody’s Investors Service.
