Dropkick Murphys: “Sing Long, Sing Proud!”

Hellcat Records

4 speakers on a scale of 1-5

Oi, oi, oi, punk.

If you’re Irish, grab a beer, get this CD, jump around the living room and sing along. Oi Punk is a working-class punk movement.

This is Irish punk that features bagpipes and Shane MacGowan of the Pogues on guest backup vocals.

Formed in 1996, the Irish folk-rock band has produced three CDs and 10 singles. Dropkick has toured half the world, bringing everyone together for a good time. Their U.S. tour hits the West Coast in April, so watch for dates in Chico, San Francisco and Santa Cruz.

The tract, “Which Side Are You On?” is a great pro-union song. The traditional punk beat is complimented with anthem-chant vocals in the genre of the Clash. My favorite tune is “The Spicy McHaggis Jig,” a song about a band member’s gigantic bagpipes.

This rules! Buy it.
