Kudos: Free morning skate program an incredible success (opinion)

Sierra House Elementary School would like to acknowledge and appreciate the Lake Tahoe Ice Arena for their free morning skate program.

The free morning skate program was established in 2013 as one of the arena’s SCORE (Sports, Community, Outreach, Recreation, Education) programs. This program has been an incredible success on several fronts including: A great morning jump start to the day, a healthy activity in line with physical fitness objectives for health and wellness; a safe drop zone and activity for working families and the single parents; a perfect complement to a rigorous academic curriculum; a critical element in the lifecycle of a youngster in every way that sports provide (team, responsibility, work ethic, accomplishment …); and finally, an entry point and growth engine for the nonprofit youth hockey association, with 32 kids joining STAHA (South Tahoe Amateur Hockey Association) on a sustained basis.

Way to go! This program is awesome!

With sincere appreciation,

The LTUSD morning skaters and their families
