Kudos & Kindness: Coats For Kids brings smiles

This year more than 500 students in grades K-12 throughout South Lake Tahoe received brand-new, warm winter coats though the efforts of the Kiwanis Community Organization, Inc.

The project ensures that every child in our community who needs one receives a coat at no charge. The Kiwanis Community Organization, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It was established as a collaboration in our community for numerous service organizations to work together on projects, such as Coats For Kids, that align with their common missions of supporting the youth and families of our community.

The smiles and thank yous from the students as they get to pick out their jacket says it all. This project is made possible with the support of donations from service organizations, individuals, and businesses, as well as grants from American Century Championship/LTVA, El Dorado Community Foundation and the Antique & Classic Boat Society NC/LT Chapter.

We extend a big thank you to all, as well as to the many volunteers who help to distribute the coats.
