Kudos & Kindness: Thank you for supporting Summit the dog in his battle with cancer

Thank you so very much for the support of Heavenly Avalanche Rescue Dog Summit’s cancer treatment. So many of you in the community rallied behind us. It really helped affirm the decision to treat to this level. Last Monday, Sept. 14, Summit completed his final radiation treatment at UC Davis Veterinary Med Center. He is adapting well to the loss of his right eye and is happy as ever to be enjoying fall in Tahoe. The support of the community through his GoFundMe account was so impressive and moving. It really made me realize how much of a member of this community he really is. The money raised from that individual campaign covered almost three-quarters of the cost, which is so much more we ever could have imagined. It’s been impressive and overwhelming how people wanted so strongly to help an older golden retriever fight through this unfortunate event. Thanks especially to Alpine Animal hospital for recognizing the severity of the situation. Thanks to friends at South Tahoe Now, and Lake Tahoe Newsline for reaching out to find support for Summit. And thank you to the Heavenly Ski Patrol Fund and Dog Dog Cat for additional financial and moral support. Summit is a happy man who should feel proud to be in this community. Thanks again, and hopefully some of you will see him on the hill this winter.
