Kudos & Kindness: Thank you to ice arena trainers

Thank you ice arena trainers

The third grade students in Mrs. Dickinson’s and Mr. Cortes’ Two-Way Immersion classes would like to thank all of our wonderful trainers at the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena for their help with our skating lessons two weeks ago. On the first day many of us felt frightened because we were afraid to fall and hurt ourselves. But 12 members of the South Lake Tahoe hockey team, the Icemen, were there to help us. With the help of Chad, Edgar, Phillipe, Seth, Tre, Zach Forrest, Austin N., Tymen, Colton, Kevin, Garrett and Zac, we all learned how to skate or to skate better. Chad was especially busy since he was able to help us every day.

Additionally, we’d like to thank the ice arena’s Van Oleson for hosting us and Mr. Jim Dickinson and Mr. Daniel Albanese for volunteering their time to help us learn to skate. By the end of the week, we all were whizzing around on the ice like professional skaters. We learned how to do turns, stop quickly, go faster in control and play Sharks and Minnows and Red Light, Green Light. Everyone had a wonderful time and no one wanted to leave on Thursday afternoon. Thanks everyone for sharing your time generously and for creating a new group of ice skaters. We can’t wait to return to the ice arena to skate again.
