Kudos: South Tahoe Association of Realtors thanks community for supporting holiday ‘wish tree’ (opinion)
With the holiday season just around the corner and the children starting their winter break, the South Lake Tahoe Association of Realtors would like to thank everyone who participated in the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe’s Wish Tree this holiday season.
It was a huge success, with a collection of donations from Realtors, members of the Tahoe Arts Alliance and community members at large.
A holiday “Wish Tree” was put up in the South Tahoe Association of Realtors office and decorated with tags — each with the name of a child, their age, and a specific present they were wishing for. These kids and their families may not have otherwise been able to afford to have the holiday they were dreaming of, and together we worked to help make these children’s wishes come true.
Over 50 children received at least two gifts each. More than 100 presents were wrapped and gifted to the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe on the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 19.
Other unwrapped toys and art supplies were also donated to the Boys and Girls Club for their “Star Store.” The Star Store incentives children to earn “stars” with good behavior and attendance, later to be exchanged for items from the club’s “store.”
The Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe’s Mission Statement is to empower all young people to reach their full potential. The South Tahoe Association of Realtors would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make the holidays brighter this season for our children and their families.
The South Tahoe Association of Realtors is an organization of Realtors and members of an affiliated business community who live, work and play in Tahoe. Part of STAR’s mission is to contribute to the community’s well-being and we are grateful to all who helped us do that with the Boys & Girls Club Wish Tree this year.
